The oldest Imperatriz newspaper in daily circulation - and the third in Maranhão - was founded on May 3, 1970 by the typographer and graphic businessman José Matos Vieira and by the lawyer and journalist Jurivê de Macêdo.
It was an old dream that came true.Later, the journalist Helius de Monção, coming from Goiânia, joined Jurivê, as editorial secretary.
Then Otávio Barros arrived, a reporter from Teresina.The newspaper was growing.
Vieira then tried to buy a linotype for the composition.
It was purchased directly from Rômulo Maiorana, owner of O Liberal, in Belém, which was renovating its graphic park with offset printers.
Also from Belém, from the Salesian priests printing shop, a large half-sheet printer was purchased, printing two pages at a time.From Belém, also came the linotype typist José Carlos, who lived with his family in Imperatriz.
